Simbrix – Reusable Craft Beads Pixel Art Without Ironing or Water – Glow-In-The-Dark!
This week I’ve been playing with the brilliant Simbrix making all sorts of creations as well as some special glow-in-the-dark Halloween ghosts. These little ‘brix’ are great for pixel-art creations with the added bonus that you don’t need to iron them (although you can if you want to) or spray them with water. Instead they lock together and stay together too.
They’re a little bit fiddly for smaller hands but they’re easy to get used to and they even include a cotton bag to store them in. The only thing that annoyed me was that in the ‘Cute Pack’ that I was using, made up of 850 brix in 17 different colours, didn’t have enough colours for some of the examples on the included sheets. You can buy extra packs though as well as packs of single colours.
The packs start at £15 for 850 brix although they get cheaper as you buy more so £35 gets you three times as many brix. Single colour packs are £3 for 100 which is a fair price. Another advantage of Simbrix is that they are reusable – you’re not wasting money when you build something as you can simply take it apart and make something else.
Overall I really liked the Simbrix but I would have preferred it if the examples on the sheets were of things you can make with the brix in your pack.
