Phoebe’s Review

I like animals and I like puzzles so I like this puzzle.  It wasn’t too easy and it wasn’t too hard. It was just right with a little bit of a challenge.

I had fun making it with my Dad and I would rate it 4½ out of 5.

Fat Dad’s Review

Both Phoebe and Oscar love doing puzzles and it’s a common activity when they visit their grandparents.  Oddly enough it’s one of those things we’ve never really done at home for no reason other than they usually do them elsewhere. So when were were asked to review the Ravensburger “My First Pets” jigsaw puzzle I jumped at the chance for a bit of chill-out time with Phoebe.

Phoebe has already mentioned that she really likes animals as well as puzzles so this was an ideal activity for her. So we got everything unpacked and spread out the pieces and then Phoebe took control. We couldn’t start anything until all the pieces were the right way up and we had separated the corners and the edge pieces. Once that was done we could make a start.

The pieces are about 4.5cm (width and height) and are very sturdy. The image has a bit of a sheen but not enough that it reflects too much light. Most importantly, the pieces fit together firmly but easily.

Overall it took about an hour to complete the puzzle and the result was a beautiful 49cm x 36cm picture full of cute pets like a hamster, chinchilla, goldfish, terrapin, puppy and more. With over 100 years of puzzle-making, Ravensburger pride themselves on their ‘Perfect Age Fit’ and I would say they got it spot on. With a suggested age of 8 years and over, it was just enough of a challenge for Phoebe (age 9) without it being too frustrating.

Ravensburger “My First Pets”  jigsaw puzzle is available for around £10 online including Amazon (affiliate link).
